
Finding Joy in Fitness

I taught a private client last week. We had a beautiful experience.
The final few minutes after class are my favorite. I never know what people are going to tell me.
I’m a nurse. I teach wild group fitness classes. I’ve been a health coach for years. I’m a mom. I’m basically prepared for any topic, right?
She looked down as she rolled up her yoga mat. “This class meant so much to me, thank you”. I got chills.
Here is what I wish more women understood about me: It is an honor to be part of your fitness journey. This is why I teach.
I don’t know why women take my classes. You could take my class because you want to lose weight, or maybe you want to try something new. I always hope there is a deeper, more personal reason you take my class, but there doesn’t have to be.
✨I truly believe that we exist to feel joy. ✨
And exercise and movement should be a source of joy. If you learned something useful and enjoyed yourself, I’ve succeeded.
I usually do a huge goal setting campaign in January. I recently read that winter is really not a good time to start goals. Winter is the end of the year, not the beginning. Spring is when we emerge from our rest, renewed and ready for growth and excitement.
So for now, I hope you work out with me and just enjoy being yourself. Because you really are wonderful. And you deserve to move with joy, grace and ease.
